Cyclone “Biporjoy” Update :
Well, the current situation, as you can see, is that I’m in Dwarka, which is also going to be one of the places that is going to be affected due to the landfall of Cyclone BiporJoy.
The wind speeds have only increased in the last 24 hours; in fact, the swelling in the sea has also gone up. If you can see, you know, we’ve been seeing quite violent and rough Seas. Here very high waves which have been hitting the coast.
Now the landfall is expected at around 7 pm today and as the speed of the Cyclone has decreased in the last one day or so it has grown in from extremely severe cyclonic storm to very severe cyclonic storm.
Possibly the impact of the Cyclone Biporjoy will also lessen by the time it will make a landfall. But, as of now we can see that, this famous tourist nation has been completely shut down by the administration. The dwarkadhish temple will remains shut till tomorrow, even as I speak the winds are completely throwing me away, yes. Also, Section 144 has been imposed not just in Dwarka but in several other locations that are slated to get affected due to the cyclone.
Most importantly, schools, colleges, and offices have been shut, and road transport in terms of bus services as well as rail transport has been massively affected. It has been shut down in anticipation of the impact of the landfall of the cyclone on the culture.
So as of now, as you can see on the ground, the situation, as the administration says, is pretty much under control.
Thousands of people have been rescued in anticipation and have been moved to shelter homes in different locations of you know, the coastal bed. The landfall is expected to happen between Karachi at jakhua Port by around 7 pm today.
Until that time we will see that, the impact of the Winds will only increase and you know moderate to light showers are also expected in several locations. As of now the dwarka beach where we are standing which is generally you know a very popular tourist destination.
Where you see hundreds of people frequent this beach every day. Today lies vacant after police action police have completely shut down the entry exit points at various locations and I have asked people to stay indoors for the entire day to day shops have been shut.
So have several commercial establishments as well infact we saw shutting down our shops since yesterday. Itself when the administration announced measures for damage control till, now the Gujarat government has said that, in dwarka District alone there were around 100 electricity poles which were damaged due to the impact of the Winds caused due to Cyclone before joy and those are being repaired or put in safe place.
But the government says putting plants in place to make sure that even at the time when there is complete electricity out. Age times Medical Services should not get affected Services should remain contracted if you can cure me.
It is getting increasingly difficult to stay at this location, even as the wind speeds have been increasing in the last 12 hours or so. We expected it to be a few hours before Cyclone Joy made landfall.
